12 Questions you should ask any DJ before confirming your reservation:

    1.    HOW MUCH OF A DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED?

Unless specified, a minimum non-refundable deposit of $100.00 dollars is required within 14 days of a booking to confirm the reservation.  A DJ who doesn't require a deposit may not take your booking seriously.

2.    WHEN IS THE FULL PAYMENT DUE?

For weddings, most people pay the remainder of the balance at our consultation, but anytime up to 48 hours before the wedding day is perfectly fine as well.  I accept Interac Email money transfer, cheque, cash or Money Order.  Payment is due the night of the function for non-wedding events.

3.    IS THE DJ APPROPRIATELY DRESSED?

Absolutely!  Shorts, Sneakers, T Shirts, Jeans, and Caps are strictly forbidden.  Your function is important, and I take your commitment seriously with a dress shirt and tie at every reception.

4.    FOR WEDDING PACKAGES, IS THERE A CONSULTATION?

Each wedding booking includes a consultation, whether via phone, e mail or in person usually a month before the big day.  I want to meet you too, in order to learn more about your preferences and how you want the reception to unfold.  As every event is different, your reception should reflect your tastes and preferences of music and presentation.

5.    DO YOU TAKE REQUESTS?

Your input and that of your guests is most certainly welcome and encouraged.  In addition to the songs and artists that you DO want played, I always ask if there is any music that you DON'T want played during your function.  While I have a music library of over 58,000 songs on my notebooks, if there does happen to be a song requested that I don’t have, no worries – with an LTE Blackberry connection tethered to my notebook I have high speed internet practically anywhere there is a cell signal.  "Sorry I don't have that song" is a thing of the past!

       6.    WHO WILL BE MY ACTUAL DJ?

Barry Crocker Music Services is a single system operation, meaning that when you book me it's me that will be at your event.  I don't have multiple Disc Jockeys working for me, so nothng gets lost in translation or miscommunicated.  You won't have to deal with several people leading up to your event which means true peace of mind.

7.    TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR MUSIC LIBRARY AND IS IT CURRENT?

Every month my new music is delivered from a DJ subscription service which showcases the newest hits being sent to radio & clubs. No need to worry about any glitches, chirps or muffled vocals which can sometimes be associated with bad mp3s.  Throw in a massive music collection with broadcast quality sound  from the last 60 years including easy listening, oldies, instrumental, classic rock, 70s, 80s, 90s, hot new country, country gold, local & traditional, retro & disco and you have a better variety than most radio stations.  The fact that I have an encyclopedic pop music memory left over from my years as a radio announcer doesn’t hurt either, lol.

8.    DO YOU HAVE BACK UP EQUIPMENT?

It would be unprofessional and irresponsible to not have back up equipment.  I have a pair of laptops, wireless microphones, redundant amplifiers, CD players, speakers, and duplicate cables for all of my connections.  About the only thing I cannot control is the availability of electricity as my UPS has approximately 10 minutes of backup power

9.    WHAT ARE THE LOGISTICAL REQUIREMENTS?

All I need is a minimum 6 foot table and chair within 20 feet of an electrical outlet.  Ideally the system should be situated as close to the dance floor as possible, otherwise the speakers will likely be too loud for your guests sitting in between.  If the decorator or caterer doesn’t provide a table cloth I carry one with me just in case.

10.    ARE YOU ABLE TO CREATE A SPECIAL MASHUP?

Perhaps you want a song shortened, a verse edited out or a mash-up of several different songs - no worries, as I use Sony Sound Forge as my audio editor.  After spending years in the production studio at 3 different radio stations I know a thing or two about editing music files.

11.    WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY EVENT?

Many dates book far in advance (especially the Saturdays in July, August and September) so be sure to contact me at least 9 months prior to your function.  The sooner the better is the general rule of thumb.
